Kent County Recreation Center Trail

June 6, 2020 By Becca Leave a Comment

If you’re looking for a quick stroll or a new place for the kids to practice riding their bike, then the 1 mile loop at the Kent County Recreation Center is worth a visit! The smooth, wide path is also stroller and handicap accessible which is tough to find in Delaware.

We visited here to geocache after getting ice cream at Tre Sorelle Dolce, which is conveniently located right down the road. There’s a beautiful, brand new, fenced in playground on site as well that is attached to one of the buildings. I think it is primarily used by the Boys and Girls club, but would be available on evenings and weekends to be enjoyed as the fence is not locked.

We have driven by here so many times and didn’t know they had a walking trail until we popped in recently. It’s amazing how many great resources are out there that aren’t well publicized (until now!) There is really NO information to be had about this trail online and I’m a pretty good google-er.

On a side note, they have some great sports programs at this facility for all age groups. Covid-19 has shut all of them down for this year of course, but at some point things will be back to business as usual. They typically post Spring, Summer and Fall catalogs on their site so if you are looking to try something new, keep an eye out for that once activities resume.

What kind of mental picture do you get when you think of Philadelphia? Big cities are such a juxtaposition between beauty and filth in my personal opinion. Everywhere you look there are piles of trash, graffiti, and dilapidated buildings. Philly has more than its' fair share of those things BUT it … [Read More...]
