Bowers Beach

August 2, 2016 By Becca 2 Comments

Bowers Beach is one of the closest “swimmable” beaches to Dover, as it is only about a 20-30 minute drive depending on which part of town you’re coming from.
There is a HUGE parking lot, and parking is FREE! Unfortunately, there are not the same amenities here that you would find at some of the more popular beaches like stores and bathhouses, so make sure you plan on cleaning up at the car before heading home. You might get lucky and find a port a potty for the emergency situations.
D loves climbing the rocks on the jetty which is great for fishing or watching the boats go in and out of the marina.
Personally, I’m very picky about beaches when it comes to the water quality. Bowers isn’t the cleanest water to swim in as there is floating debris and the sand is more muddy here since it is on the bay.
Despite that, every time we visit there are people in the water, so I’m sure others aren’t as particular about it as me. Another plus for Bowers is that the water is very calm and shallow so it’s good for beginner beach littles who aren’t quite ready for waves.
When we visited, we weren’t there to swim so D enjoyed collecting seashells and I enjoyed the quiet. We went on a Saturday morning and there was only one other family there so it was peaceful and relaxing, unlike Rehoboth where people are practically on top of each other.

Fairmount Park- Centennial Arboretum

May 29, 2021 By Becca Leave a Comment

What kind of mental picture do you get when you think of Philadelphia? Big cities are such a juxtaposition between beauty and filth in my personal opinion. Everywhere you look there are piles of trash, graffiti, and dilapidated buildings. Philly has more than its' fair share of those things BUT it … [Read More...]
