If you’re looking for something different than your average park, take a ride across the bay bridge to Kinder Farm Park. We are big animal lovers so when I found a playground-farm combo, it moved to the top of our list of places to go.
The playground alone was huge! The boys loved the hill slides the most even though they were soaking wet. I hate rushing them when they’re having a good time playing but I was itching to see what else the park offered, so we moved on to the farm which is conveniently located right behind the playground. I couldn’t love the idea behind this farm more. All of the animals on site are raised by kids in the Kinder Farm Park 4H club and the park is developing an agricultural history education program for the public. Just keeping these animals in a place where the public can view and enjoy them is such a novel idea, I don’t know why more places don’t do this. We absolutely loved the goats, cows, pigs, turkeys, and chickens and out of all of them, the cows were most friendly and walked right up to us.
It seems like we never have enough time to fully explore each place we go to and since we spent all our time at the playground and farm, we didn’t get to explore the paved walking path or the nature trails on site so we’ll have to do check those out next time!
