I am super excited to bring you a calendar of Delmarvapa events that caters to our young naturalists! There is not another one like it for our area as far as I can tell so this feature is unique to The Bucket. Activities on this calendar focus on outdoor adventures or educational activities to help teach our kids about nature. I’m going to walk you through navigating this blog feature, because there are a lot of elements and it may be overwhelming at first.
If you are viewing this blog from your phone or mobile device, you will have to click “view web version” to be able to see the calendar at the bottom of the page.
When you click on an event, the details box will pop up with information about the event activities, cost, location, etc. If you click on the map link, you will be able to see where exactly this event is located on a Google map and even get directions to the event.
Some activities are age specific so make sure you read the event description before going. If there are no ages specified, the event is open to all ages.
Select events require preregistration because there are limited spaces available.
If you have a Google calendar, you can add events from this calendar to yours with just one click!
Lastly, I actually prefer the “agenda” view for the events because my brain can process a list better than a calendar and some days there are SO many events on one day that only a few show up at a time in calendar view.
Since it is still early in the year, many organizations have not yet posted their event calendar for 2016, so please make sure you check back frequently for updates! Also, most of the things I put on the calendar focus on younger children (under 12). If you have teens, there are TONS of other programs offered for them as well! Additionally, there are so many cool summer camp and spring break opportunities through these organizations for all ages.
Unfortunately, the majority (but not all!) of the events currently posted are in either Northern DE/PA or Southern DE. Central Delaware is such a dead zone for activities. I’m hoping that as I become more involved in my mission to help our children become more in touch with nature, I can organize some community events in the Dover area. Again though, it is early and I’m sure there will be things that come up for Dover later on in the year so stay tuned!
Here are links to some of the organizations that are running these activities if you would like to explore their websites further:
